Parent Coaching

Practical strategies and specialist guidance for the parts of daily life that feel hardest.

Parent Coaching gives you specialist guidance you can use at home. It focuses on the everyday situations that are causing difficulty — mornings, mealtimes, homework, transitions, big feelings — and builds strategies around how your child actually works.

For parents and carers who want practical, individualised strategies, either alongside other support or on their own.

Reasons families ask about this

  • You know what the difficulty is and want practical ways to handle it at home.
  • Daily routines have become a source of conflict.
  • You want to support your child's development without starting a course of therapy.
  • You would like to understand how to adapt your approach to how your child's brain and body work.

How it works

  1. Focus

We identify the specific situations you want to work on.

  2. Understanding

We look at what may be happening developmentally in those moments.

  3. Strategies

We build practical approaches suited to your child, your household and what is realistic for you.

  4. Review and adjust

We check what worked, what did not, and refine it.

What it may include

  • Focused sessions on routines, transitions or a specific everyday difficulty
  • Strategies for emotional and behavioural regulation
  • Support with executive function — planning, starting, organising, finishing
  • Approaches to homework, school mornings and other pressure points
  • Guidance on supporting confidence and reducing avoidance
  • Support during transitions such as starting school or moving year group

What you receive

  • An agreed focus and set of practical strategies
  • Written notes you can keep and share with others caring for your child
  • Adjusted approaches after review
  • A clear view of whether further support would help

What this service does not provide

Coaching is practical developmental guidance for parents. It is not family therapy, parenting-capacity assessment, or mental health treatment for a parent or child. Where those are needed, we will say so and help you find the right service.

Common questions

Does my child need to be assessed first?

Not necessarily. Some families start with coaching. If a fuller picture would make the guidance more useful, we will tell you.

Is it available online?

Yes. Coaching works well online and many families prefer it.

Can both parents attend?

Yes, and it usually helps when everyone caring for the child hears the same thing.

What does it cost?

£85 per session. Sessions last 60 minutes and take place online. A package of four sessions is £320. Fees are indicative. Your fee is always confirmed with you before anything is booked.
